Each scored up to 5 points unless otherwise noted.
- Plain language – The application and the project used clear, simple, and concise language to accomplish the project and explain its goals and outcomes.
- Public-private partnership – The project must be public–private partnership: it must include at least one private sector company and one public sector agency. Identify each of the major project partners and their specific role.
- Purpose – Project has a defined purpose and scope.
- Key Takeaway – What is your top lesson learned or key takeaway from this project?
- Innovative – What makes this project unique from other ITS project to-date? How did this build off other ITS projects across the country and the Americas?
- Solving Community Challenges – The project addressed community transportation challenges using technology.
- Community & Stakeholder Engagement – The project team engaged community stakeholders through community and public engagement.
- Path to Deployment – The project has/had a plan to ensure the services would be able to deployed or institutionalized after project completion.
- Advancing ITS America’s vision – The project advances ITS America’s vision of ‘a better future transformed by transportation technology and innovation that is safer, greener, and smarter for all.
- Achieved project goals & documented lessons learned – The project achieved its original goals or else documented the lessons it learned to help scale the industry forward.
- Cost-benefit-analysis – How much did the project cost versus how much did it financially benefit the community, e.g. what was the return on investment?
- Outcomes – What were the qualitative or quantitative outcomes from the project? E.g. Did it increase transportation access to a certain community? Did it increase ridership in a certain area? Did it decrease emissions by a certain percent? Did it help reduce crashes or near misses?
- Replicability – How can the project be replicated elsewhere or scaled?
- Funding – What funding sources did you use? E.g. USDOT formula or discretionary funding? What state funding? What if any grants or local funding was used?
- Diversity – The team and stakeholder represented diverse, multicultural perspectives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
- Metrics and Performance Measure – The project measured its success and outcomes with key performance indicators or other qualitative means to demonstrate the current and potential impact of the project toward improving safety, sustainability, access, and/or equity.
