Step 1 – Submission Stage
Students will submit a written idea or solution through the submission site. All students will respond to the same challenge question, but it must relate to a problem or opportunity within their college/universities home country (for Asia Pacific and Europe) or State (for Americas). There will be four judges that make up the judging panel, a representative from ITS Asia-Pacific, ITS America, ERTICO, and Southwest Research Institute. Each submission will have a required outline with associated scoring system and will be reviewed and scored the judging panel. The top scoring students of each region will move on to the next stage of competition, which is the regional finals.
Step 2 – Entering the Competition
Prior to participating in the global essay challenge, each student must complete the registration form. The registration form will be available soon. You will be asked to include a brief narrative about the area you intend to address and the solutions you are exploring. Upon registration, the student will be contacted by a representative who will provide the student with the link to submit their essay submission.
The registered student will be asked to prepare a submission in response to a challenge question revolving around this year’s ITS World Congress theme, Deploying Today, Empowering Tomorrow.
Step 3 – Regional Finals
Each student will create a presentation of their solution to be submitted through the submission site. Presentations will be viewed by the judging panel and scored. One winner from each region will be given an incentive, including paid airfare to ITS World Congress from their region, complimentary ITS World Congress full conference registration, breakfast and lunch (Sunday, August 24 – Thursday, August 28), access to networking events happening in the exhibit hall, and all conference sessions. Winners will also have the opportunity to present their solution on stage.
